Mid cap funds invest only in mid cap companies – those with a market capitalization of INR 500 – INR 10000 Crores. Mid cap funds can be highly volatile and risky; hence, isn’t recommended for first-time investors as well as investors with low risk appetite. The ideal investment horizon for mid cap funds is 5 -7 years and does offer higher returns than both multi cap and large cap funds.
