Ultra Short Duration Mutual Funds invest in very short term debt securities with a small portion in longer term debt securities. Ultra Short Duration Mutual Fund maybe used by investors for both short term needs as well as Systematic Transfer Plans (STPs) as they hep investors avoid interest rate risks and offer better returns than most money market instruments. They invest in securities with a maturity period of both greater and less than 91 days and the typical investment horizon ranges from 1 week to 18 months. The returns from these attract capital gains which are taxable.
